Le Moana West: A New Era of Collaboration for Pacific Communities

In an exciting move for West Auckland’s Pacific community, Ruta Tonumaivao, our co-founder of Tapasā Navigating Futures, has been appointed as the Collaboration & Engagement Lead for the Le Moana West Collective.


Le Moana West brings together Pacific organizations, schools, churches, and groups with a shared vision of creating thriving, connected Pacific communities through innovative, community-led approaches.

In her role, Ruta’s primary focus is on unlocking opportunities for collaboration. With her leadership, Le Moana West becomes a hub where stakeholders can come together to share knowledge, pool resources, and drive collective action. This position opens the door to new partnerships, creating space for Pacific voices to shape and lead innovative solutions that address their unique needs.

By fostering collaboration, Ruta aims to strengthen relationships between various Pacific groups in West Auckland, ensuring that their combined efforts lead to meaningful outcomes. Her responsibilities include organizing and facilitating networking events, collective collaboration, elevating community voice, and providing backbone support for the collective’s operations. This structured approach ensures that projects are aligned with community needs and have the systems in place to succeed.


Tapasā’s role in backboning Le Moana West is critical. As the collective’s support system, Tapasā is committed to building capacity and ensuring long-term sustainability for the initiative. Ruta’s leadership as the Collaboration & Engagement Lead will help turn these relationships into actionable, impactful projects that empower the Pacific community.
