An exciting future with Aktive Zone

During a recent survey of the West Auckland area, Tapasā identified various organizations working to support Pacific communities. Among these, Aktive Zone stood out for its mission to encourage social activity and engagement. Founded by Jo Armstrong, Aktive Zone was established to provide free activities, events, and Samoan cultural workshops for the local community.

Armstrong, recognizing the need for sustainable funding, reached out to Tapasā for assistance. Tapasā responded by offering guidance and support to help Aktive Zone navigate the complexities of funding applications, ultimately helping to secure the necessary resources for expanding their initiatives.

“Our goal is to provide a safe space where children, youth, and adults can come together to participate in a variety of group activities,” Armstrong explained. “From multi-sport programs to dance workshops, we cater to all age groups and skill levels, ensuring that no one is left behind.”

The New Lynn Community Centre serves as the home base for Aktive Zone’s diverse range of classes and sessions. The program is designed to cover a wide array of recreational activities, from field sports to court games and dance, promoting physical fitness and fostering a sense of community.
